New England is situated on the Great Dividing Range of eastern Australia and is a unique environment with cold winters and Summer rainfall which is ideal for superior merino breeding.
It is a low risk area for sheep diseases including Ovine Johnes Disease (OJD); New England is a “Protected Area”.
The New England Merino Field Days is held every second year with the next event to be held on Friday 16th January 2026 at the Uralla Showground.
